African net sponges are long, stretchy mesh body sponges used across West Africa to cleanse and exfoliate. They lather well, reach your whole back and help lift away buildup and dry, dull skin. Àbẹ̀kẹ́ Skincare offers four firmness levels, so you can choose the scrub that fits your skin.

Which African net sponge should I get?

Choose by firmness, from gentlest to firmest:

  1. Soft: the gentlest scrub. Best for sensitive skin, first-time exfoliators and daily use.
  2. Hybrid: a step up from soft. Best for everyday exfoliation when you want a little more texture without going firm.
  3. Medium: balanced firmness. Best for most skin types that want a noticeable everyday scrub.
  4. Hard: the firmest scrub. Best for a deep polish on rough areas like elbows, knees and feet. Not for sensitive skin.

Not sure? Start with Soft or Hybrid if your skin is sensitive or you're new to exfoliating. Go Medium or Hard if you already exfoliate and want a stronger scrub.

How to use an African net sponge

  1. Wet the sponge and add soap, body wash, shower oil or Liquid African Black Soap.
  2. Work up a lather, then stretch the sponge to reach your back.
  3. Scrub in gentle circles. Start with light pressure and adjust.
  4. Rinse the sponge and hang it to dry.
  5. Follow with body oil or body butter while your skin is still damp.
